I read on the online news that there was this guy who kept getting broken in to so he set up his pc cam to switch on and record when someone moved in front of the webcam and then it emailed the snap shots via email.
How can this be done?

h. Click on Next
i. Try to choose a date last week or days ago that you are not having this problem.

good luck. I had someone get into my account, change all my info, security questions, all that, and never got it back. If it's a paid account, that might be a differant story. It generally doesn't take very long for them to respond, up to 48 hours during the week. Solving the problem, your guess is as good as mine.

I am visually impaired, how do I use email if I cannot read security codes required?
If you use Mozilla or Netscape browser, there are some servers that will allow you to save the username and password so it appears automatically when you log in. (Yahoo mail is not one of them) You can get into your email account with a minimum of looking at the screen and only using the mouse once. For instance, Mozilla broswer is the first thing on my windows start menu. Once online, the email account is the first thing on the favorites list. So if my computer is in sleep mode, here is how I get online and get my verizon email with DSL:
1. Windows key
2. wait 5 seconds
3. arrow down once (calling up the browser launches the dialer, with username and password already loaded as default)
4. enter
5. wait 5 seconds
6. alt + B
7. arrow down 3 times
8. enter
9. (username and password automatically filled in)
10. move mouse to Login button, left-click once
If your email sign in page is your default home page, you can skip steps 6, 7 and 8.

Don't think it is anything to do with Norton as most people are having problems with Yahoo today. Myself for one.
Norton Antivirus though is not very good and can cause more problems than it solves. I use Kaspersky which is a Russian antivirus if you search the web you can download this for free and unlike Norton you never have to pay anything, even for updates etc.

Norton caused major probs with my files and hard drive - locked them up tight - I could do nothing!! I found it was letting in trojan after trojan and so many viruses - basically - it's crap and a waste of money!!

Reply:There should be a preference for internet security settings that you can either increase or decrease. Did you download the upgrade from the website or from a CD?

Go to Tools %26gt; Internet Options %26gt; and check under the Security Tab as well as the Privacy tab and see what the settings are. You may have to decrease your security settings. Sometimes helpdesk people go to deep to resolve the issue instead of looking at the simple things first.

There's no setting to allow that. Yahoo! doesn't allow ActiveX controls to run in email for security reasons.

I purchased Norton Security 2008 but I don't see where it was ever downloaded. I have a receipt on email?
The email I received confirming that I purchased Norton 2008 was sent to me but I don't see where I can go back into it to download it again. My computer shows that it was never downloaded. The order number is 2090340675

You see, that's why I tell people ALL THE TIME to BUY the disk at a local retail store. You end up with NOTHING.
But go back into the Norton Website and download again. This time, look at the folder that it is downloading too. Then use that activation number again.

if it's too important and urgent then try for it !
otherwise dont try because many problems are there in that for you authentication !

The security question can only be changed by someone who knew your date of birth, original zip code, knew the exact question and answer, and had access to your alternate non Yahoo email account. Yahoo won't do anything if you gave all that information out.

If you dont know your secuiryt question, there is nothing you can do about it, except make another account. All email providers arethe same.

I am going to assume that you are allowed to change the setting. Usually, there is a tick box. Simply, click on the box/tick to change it.

Will you please stop making me enter a security code to send an email? Those codes are illegible. Its annoying
Those security codes are very hard to read. I might write my own reader to discern the codes, because I have trouble reading them myself. If I do, I will make it available on the web for everyone to use. There's got to be a better way to prevent spam.

We kept getting these messages at work and double-checked the certificates but it ended up being the customer's system date.

Why can't I type letters and numbers into the String Security Block to send Email? Its not that I can't see them. Its just that it will not let me type anything into the Verification Block?

They dont have an email system for customers, best bet is to persevere with the telephone as the new crappy jobcentreplus system doesnt cater for people dropping in and in al probability you will be sent away to the phones anyway, try calling later in the day as it is traditionally quiter at those times so probably have more sucess in getting through
P.s go easy on the staff, i used to work there and they are all nice people!

They dont have an email system for customers, best bet is to persevere with the telephone as the new crappy jobcentreplus system doesnt cater for people dropping in and in al probability you will be sent away to the phones anyway, try calling later in the day as it is traditionally quiter at those times so probably have more sucess in getting through
P.s go easy on the staff, i used to work there and they are all nice people!

the security key is like an identification number or letter, they ask you for the security key when you resetting an email for security purpose. In your yahoo account you should have an alternate e mail address.Check that e mail and maybe you would see the security key.

The phone number is in the Portland Oregon area. Not sure if they have offices there, but The Sunnyvale address you showed in your previous question is legitimate. They are correct about not sending credit card info via email.
Maybe the thing to ask yourself is what do you want to accomplish, and what would make you feel secure. If you're trying to close an account that has financial info, how do you want them to verify you? What is reasonable?
And if nothing makes you feel safe at this point, why not have the credit card company issue you a new card with a different number?

i am also using verizon dsl for more than a year now and I developed a habit of saying "NO" to such tempting offers like credit card companies or AOL did!
Anyway, just install free zonealarm firewall and that will protect your network.
If you are worried about malicious attacks, you will need good quality anti-virus(like AVG or Avira free edition) and couple of quality anti-spyware(like spybot and adaware se). then you are good to go.

If you are using Internet Explorer go to [Tools] [internet Options] [Security] [Custom Level] - Look for the activeX section and select Prompt. Next time you visit that site it will ask you if you want to allow activex, just say yes.
You could also enable it carte Blanche, but you may not want to do that.

Mail Beta, and -- judging by all the other questions and answers that have started popping up on Answers in the last 5 or 6 hours -- is connected to Yahoo! Mail Beta specifically. Do a search here on Answers, and you'll find a lot more info on the current problem.
According to most of the major online anti-virus sites (and a few I hadn't even heard of), W32.Feebs spreads in two ways:
(1) Through e-mails disguised as security warnings of some sort, using random security-related names and subject lines. It gives you a log-in name and a password (for some reason I haven't figured out yet) and instructs you to open the attached file. The attached file is an .HTA file.
(2) Through files obtained from peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing networks (Limewire, Bearshare, torrent sites, etc). The file looks like a cracked version of one of several popular computer programs, and usually has something in the filename like "full version + crack" or something.
According to the anti-virus sites, opening one of these is the only way to be infected by this worm. Supposedly, it can't execute itself. The user has to actually attempt to run the file.
That being said, a lot of people on here are suddenly reporting this same problem today, and, in pretty much every case, it happens when they try to access Yahoo! Mail Beta (the regular Yahoo! Mail doesn't seem to have the same problem).
Also, one of the other answerers on here said that he'd talked to Yahoo! tech support, and they were working on the problem on their end. He didn't go into tons of detail, but it sounded like THEY have the virus and are currently trying to get rid of it. I don't know if that's true, because I'm reporting second hand info (so don't hold me to it), but it's worth investigating further.
From what I'm hearing, I'm hoping this is a false alarm resulting from some sort of miscommunication between Yahoo! Mail Beta and the anti-virus progs. Or that it's a problem on Yahoo's servers and not actually infecting our computers. Either way. All I know is that, if Yahoo! Beta infected my computer, I will be very angry...

Mail Beta, and -- judging by all the other questions and answers that have started popping up on Answers in the last 5 or 6 hours -- is connected to Yahoo! Mail Beta specifically. Do a search here on Answers, and you'll find a lot more info on the current problem.
According to most of the major online anti-virus sites (and a few I hadn't even heard of), W32.Feebs spreads in two ways:
(1) Through e-mails disguised as security warnings of some sort, using random security-related names and subject lines. It gives you a log-in name and a password (for some reason I haven't figured out yet) and instructs you to open the attached file. The attached file is an .HTA file.
(2) Through files obtained from peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing networks (Limewire, Bearshare, torrent sites, etc). The file looks like a cracked version of one of several popular computer programs, and usually has something in the filename like "full version + crack" or something.
According to the anti-virus sites, opening one of these is the only way to be infected by this worm. Supposedly, it can't execute itself. The user has to actually attempt to run the file.
That being said, a lot of people on here are suddenly reporting this same problem today, and, in pretty much every case, it happens when they try to access Yahoo! Mail Beta (the regular Yahoo! Mail doesn't seem to have the same problem).
Also, one of the other answerers on here said that he'd talked to Yahoo! tech support, and they were working on the problem on their end. He didn't go into tons of detail, but it sounded like THEY have the virus and are currently trying to get rid of it. I don't know if that's true, because I'm reporting second hand info (so don't hold me to it), but it's worth investigating further.
From what I'm hearing, I'm hoping this is a false alarm resulting from some sort of miscommunication between Yahoo! Mail Beta and the anti-virus progs. Or that it's a problem on Yahoo's servers and not actually infecting our computers. Either way. All I know is that, if Yahoo! Beta infected my computer, I will be very angry...
When you get the warning from Norton (which is what I have also), does it say that the infected file is in \Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\(some long string of numbers and letters), and that it can't repair this file because access to it is denied? Just wondering if we're all having the exact same problem...
Anyway, I'm going to keep digging (and scanning), and will add whatever info here I can find.

Next time, choose a security question that only has one possible answer that's easy to remember. Mother's maiden name. Father's middle name. Name of the high school where you graduated. Much harder to forget those.

I got an email stating that it was from Yahoo Inc and that I needed to download new security certificates.?
But it was in my spam folder. This was the message. "As a part of our security system Yahoo Inc. are glad to present the new set of security certificates. It makes your access to Yahoo services more comfortable, faster and secure. You will not be able to access our services without this program after 1st of May." Is this a legitimate email? If so, why did it go to my spam folder?

missing mail sent from 4 july 2006 and hard copy taken has been stolen im at a loss to explain why but this is real i am a successful writer and my work has been stolen the emails in question are to Ms Liz Rosenburg at WBR this has not happened before but the diaries I keep are continually going missing. I phoned Yahoo! yesterday, 11-28-06, and they told me that they are still working on the bugs of the Yahoo! Beta Mail The "Session Expired" issue is what they are working on at present.
Thousands are having many different problems with their mail as there is still a glitchs that Yahoo! hasn't gotten fixed yet in their new format.
This applies to almost all areas of mail (including signing in, composing, receiving, sending, attachments, photos etc.), messenger and search problems, for the last two weeks.
I found this in What's New In Mail:
We鈥檙e wrapping up a few remaining compatibility issues between Yahoo! Mail Beta and the new Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0
Until they finish wrapping up try some of the things below:

On the Options page, in the "Management" column, click on "General Preferences".
Find the "Composing E-mails" section, "Mode:", and choose "Compose messages as plain text".
Scroll to the bottom and click the "Save" button.
Now try it. Can you Compose, Reply to a message or Forward?
This is working for some also:
Make sure your screen resolution is 1024 by 768 pixels. Right click on your desktop, click Properties, click the "Settings" tab, left click and hold on the screen resolution bar and drag it all the way to the right, click Apply and click OK

I need help, I have not been able to get into my email address and Yahoo security says I am answering wrong.?
I have even called Yahoo, but when it comes to the question of my zipcode they say my zipcode answer is wrong. I've tried every single zipcode I can remember and none are right. I have contacted security and they say I am answering my secret question wrong. Which I really don't understand. I am going to lose my email address if something isn't done soon!!! This happens to me sometimes when I try to view my hotmail. The error says something about a security certificate. You should simply allow the certificate if you are sure that you are on the correct website.

It is possible someone could have stolen your password and if that has happened it is possible some chanced your security question. I would contact the people at google and tell them your account may have been comprised they are the only ones that can help you get it back.

uninstall norton, and get some of the free security software:
firewall: mcafee
anti-virus: adaware, spybot

Buy a copy of McAfee. Norton is as much use as a chocolate fireguard these days.

Ubuntu 6.10 is excellent and user friendly. Linux is extrememly secure .

Why isn`t my security "code" showing to place my Email address?
When I completed the new security I was told not to enter details in future unless my special code was showing. It`s no tshowing. How do I get into my email if I cant enter my email address?
