I received an instant message telling me that I had been reported for chat abuse, and provided me a link to see what the report was, anyone that I know thats gotten this message and went to the link lost their accounts. Are these messages really from yahoo or from someone else because I haven't chatted in months.
Does yahoo send you security messages from email or on messenger?
No, you wouldn't be informed by Yahoo about anything via Messenger. Possibly by email, though I doubt Yahoo would tell you you've been "reported" for anything, let alone chat abuse (if you go to Yahoo chat, you'll see that people get away with everything there).
More likely, someone just wanted you to click on the link so they could get information from you, install a virus on your PC, etc.
